![]() I'm willing to bet that it's going to remain around in one form or another for many more decades to come. Other and better 3D models have been made since, both fan scratchbuilt and retail video game versions, but this particular 3D model of the classic Galactica has become as classic as its subject for us Battlestar Galactica fans old and new. It's one flaw is that it was based on the Monogram plastic model kit of the Galactica and as such is misproportioned, chiefly in that it is not as wide as it should be per the actual filming model. *sigh* Anyway, the original Imagine format version of this is still kicking around but it was successfully ported for use with later PC and Mac based 3D software, and it's now available in a variety of 3D model formats and levels of detail, ranging from straight ports of the old model to extensively souped-up and greebled-up versions in order to make it look even better, as with the popular Poser Pro version. ![]() ![]() It was created back in the late 1990s using the 3D program Imagine on the old Commodore Amiga, which was the schizz-nozz PC of its time if you were into 3D modeling and computer animation. This is usually the first good 3D CG model of the classic Colonial battlestar Galactica, from the original Battlestar Galactica television series, that almost everyone who's a fan of the show will come across. ![]()
